Delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives’ Armed Services Committee visits Baghdad

A delegation from the U.S. House of Representatives’ Armed Services Committee visited Baghdad to discuss U.S.-Iraq relations.

Representatives John Garamendi of California, Deb Haaland of New Mexico, and Veronica Escobar of Texas, met with Prime Minister Adil Abd al-Mahdi and Speaker Mohammed al-Halbusi. They discussed the importance of the U.S.-Iraq relationship and the future of bilateral cooperation, particularly for ensuring the lasting defeat of ISIS, and the continued role of the U.S. in advising and training the Iraqi Security Forces.

The delegation stressed the importance of a stable and secure environment in Iraq that is welcoming to foreign investment and economic development in order to provide a prosperous future for the people of Iraq.
