


Ambassador Alina L. Romanowski presented her credentials to serve as U.S. Ambassador to Iraq to President Barham Salih and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein on June 2, 2022. She later met with Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi to discuss the U.S.-Iraq strategic partnership. Ambassador Romanowski thanked President Barham Salih, Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhimi, and Minister Fuad Hussein for their warm reception. She reiterated the U.S. commitment to the bilateral relationship with Iraq under the Strategic Framework Agreement, which defines Iraq as one of America’s most important and strategic partners in the region. Under Ambassador Romanowski’s leadership, Mission Iraq will continue our cooperation with our Iraqi partners toward our shared goal of a secure, stable, and prosperous democracy.
