During her visit to Erbil, Assistant Secretary Barbara Leaf met with IKR’s senior officials including IKR President Nechirvan Barzani, KRG PM Masrour Barzani, Deputy PM Qubad Talabani, KDP President Masoud Barzani, and PUK Leader Bafel Talabani. In her meetings, she discussed how to further strengthen the enduring relationship between the US and the people of the IKR, support cooperation between the Kurdistan Regional Government and the Iraqi Federal government, resolving the oil and gas issue and reaching solutions to meet all Iraqis’ water and energy needs. She also reiterated US support for an inclusive solution to government formation and stressed that leaders should work towards a solution that benefits all the peoples of Iraq and strengthen the sovereignty, stability and security of the country.
