Chargé d ‘Affaires Joey Hood celebrates Earth Day with students from Access English programs

U.S. Embassy, Baghdad Chargé d ‘Affair, Joey Hood celebrated Earth Day with students from a dozen Access English Microscholarship programs. Accompanied by the English Languages Officer Thomas Santos, Mr. Hood stressed the importance of education, focusing on the opportunities for exchange through ECA programs. The Access English Microscholarship students celebrated Earth Day in a country-wide, virtual gathering. DVC technology brought together all Iraqi programs in three locations, the North, Central and South of the country. Students shared presentations, skits, songs and readings with each other As Iraq rebuilds after years of war, events like this demonstrate how the U.S. Embassy and the Office of English Language Programs is contributing to creating a healthy and vibrant civil society. This visit was a testament to commitment U. S. Embassy, Baghdad has to educational reform in Iraq.
