General Electric-Ministry of Electricity Signing

January 28, U.S. Ambassador Stuart Jones attended a ceremony at the Babylon Hotel heralding the signing of the ‘GE Power Up Plan’ between the Ministry of Electricity and the U.S. energy giant, General Electric. The plan not only will sustain and increase Iraq’s power generation by at least 700 megawatts for the peak summer period, but also will ensure that Iraq has the highest quality electricity generation capability available worldwide.  Commenting on the plan, which is valued at more than $328 million, U.S. Ambassador Stuart Jones thanked Minister of Electricity Qassem al-Fahdawi for bringing this plan to life. Ambassador Jones also said that it is “an example of the close cooperation between Iraq and United States in supporting the Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi’s efforts to bring better services to the Iraqi people.”
