Recent local media reports alleging a drawdown of personnel at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad are incorrect. Normal Embassy operations continue with full staffing, under the direction of U.S. Ambassador Stuart Jones. Similarly, the Embassy has not advised U.S. citizens to evacuate Iraq. The U.S. Embassy simply has advised American citizens to make contingency plans, consistent with the message delivered by Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-Abadi in his February 28, 2016, press statement on Mosul Dam.
