Security Message: Turkish Visa Services and Entry into Turkey

U.S. Mission Iraq advises its citizens that effective October 8, the Government of Turkey has suspended visa services to United States citizens, to include the issuance of physical “sticker” visas at border posts and the online Turkish electronic visa (e-visa).  U.S. citizens should not attempt to transit the Turkish/Iraqi land border without a valid visa from the Government of Turkey and the Government of Iraq.

As a reminder, U.S. citizens should maintain a heightened sense of security awareness and take appropriate measures to enhance their personal security at all times when living and working in Iraq.

Please review the “Iraq Travel Warning” posted on the U.S. State Department’s website: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/traveladvisories/traveladvisories/iraq-travel-advisory.html, and remember that U.S. citizens remain at high risk for kidnapping and terrorist violence in Iraq.
