When making an appointment, please ensure that everyone coming to the Embassy is listed on your appointment. Individuals whose names are not included in the appointment will not be admitted to the International Zone and cannot come to the Embassy. This includes children.
The Consular Section is located on the U.S. Embassy compound on Al Kindi Street in the International Zone in Baghdad. Please enter through the Consular entrance on Al Kindi Street. Note that weapons are not allowed in the Consular waiting room and no parking is available.
Please send an email to BaghdadCRBA@state.gov and provide us with your name, the name of each child applying, and a phone number where we can reach you, and we will send you instructions on the next steps to apply and schedule an appointment.
The Consular Section does not accept phone calls about visa cases, and the American Citizen Services office cannot answer visa questions. Do not make a notary or passport appointment to discuss visa matters. Under no circumstances will we discuss your visa matter at a notary or passport appointment. If you have questions about a visa to the United States, please contact one of our visa units.
The U.S. Consulate General in Erbil continues to operate with limited staffing. Social distancing and other COVID-19 measures also limit the number of customers we can serve daily. Applicants who arrive at their appointment unprepared (without the required forms or fees) can negatively impact our ability to provide services to other customers. Applicants who do not bring an accepted form of payment to their interview will be asked to reschedule.

Consular fees can be paid with any credit card (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, American Express, or Diner’s Club) or with U.S. currency dated 2006 or later. Please note that the credit or debit card must be in the name of the applicant or the accompanying parent or legal guardian if the applicant is under the age of 18.

If you need reasonable accommodation for your appointment, we encourage you to request your accommodation immediately once you schedule your appointment. We make every effort to provide accommodations to persons with disabilities and medical conditions. Reasonable accommodations vary, depending on the situation and the person’s needs.

If you are unable to provide fingerprints because of a medical condition, including birth defects, physical deformities, skin conditions, you may qualify for a fingerprint waiver for certain fingers.
