As of January 1, 2020, all consular services are suspended at Embassy Baghdad. The U.S. government urges all U.S. citizens to heed the January 2020 Travel Advisory and depart Iraq immediately via commercial airlines. U.S. citizens requiring emergency services should contact Consulate General Erbil at IraqEmergencyUSC@state.gov or 066-211-4554. Immigrant visa petitions can be transferred from Baghdad to a different U.S. embassy or consulate. Immigrant visa applicants and petitioners should contact NVC at https://nvc.state.gov/inquiry for additional instructions. Consulate General Erbil is not accepting immigrant visa applications at this time.

Public hours for American Citizen Services are Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday, 1:00-3:00 pm, by appointment only. We are closed on U.S. and Iraqi holidays.
Please note that on the day of your appointment if you are ill or have a contagious ailment, you should use the appointment link to reschedule your appointment. When making an appointment, please ensure that everyone coming to the embassy is listed on your appointment. Individuals whose names are not included in the appointment will not be admitted to the International Zone and cannot come to the embassy. This includes children.

The Consular Section is located on the U.S. Embassy compound on Al Kindi Street in the International Zone in Baghdad. Please enter through the Consular entrance on Al Kindi Street. Note that weapons are not allowed in the Consular waiting room and no parking is available.
