If you are traveling within the next 2 weeks, you may schedule an appointment at the U.S. Embassy to apply for an emergency limited-validity passport in person.
Check our appointment calendar (for Erbil, please click here) and if there is no appointment which accommodates your travel, contact us by email at BaghdadACS@state.gov or ErbilACS@state.gov. A response will be sent within 24 hours of receipt during work days.
Note: Please schedule a regular appointment if available; you are not required to schedule an emergency appointment, even though you will be applying for an emergency limited-validity passport.
When completing the form, please include your email address and state the nature of the emergency and proposed date of travel. The email box is monitored between 8:00 am and 5.00pm, Sunday to Thursday, except for American and Iraqi public holidays.
Same-day issuance is available for applications that are complete and straightforward. In some cases, however, we may be required to refer to the Department of State; therefore, some cases may take longer.
Application requirements, including fees, for emergency passports are the same as those for full-validity passports. More information can be found by selecting your specific passport service from the menu at the top of the page.
Please note: Two consecutive emergency passports cannot be issued. If you are issued an emergency passport, your next application must be for a full-validity passport.
