The U.S. Embassy in Baghdad Condemns the November 21 Marketplace Attack in Salah El Din Province

The United States Embassy in Baghdad strongly condemns the cowardly car bomb attack in a Tuz Khurmatu vegetable market yesterday that killed more than 20 innocent Iraqis and injured dozens more.

As Prime Minister Abadi has stressed, the fight against terrorism in Iraq is not over.  As the military campaign against terrorists in Iraq nears its end, sadly some remnant groups who share this twisted ideology will continue to attempt to sow fear among the Iraqi population through pointless isolated attacks.  The United States and the International Coalition will continue to partner with the Iraqi Security Forces, advising, training, and equipping them to eliminate terrorism as a threat to Iraq.

We extend our sincere condolences to the families of these victims and hope for the swift recovery of those who were injured.
